The Beginning

I am a woman starting my seventh decade of living and fully enjoying the life I am now able to live.  I live a very simple life in a much-downsized home, and I appreciate every day the freedom that this chapter of life has brought me.

I am now focused each day on the things that have become clear to me as being the most important parts of life.  A core spirituality that is the energy and my guide for everything.  Love and compassion.  Health and wellness.  Being fully present in all the moments of my days, and being aware of and appreciating all that is to be found and experienced within those moments.  Mindfulness that infuses all of the daily activities and moments of stillness that I engage in, and above all, gratitude for all that I have been given.

Foremost in the things I am grateful for are the people I love.  A big part of my life is staying closely connected with those people.  Many live out of town or out of state, and texting, emailing, calling and FaceTiming has become a central part of my days, with the sharing that occurs in those daily connections a mainstay in my life.

I frequently share with those people about things that I love the most and that are top of my mind.  Experiences, thoughts, pictures, things I have written.  I’ve received feedback from some of them encouraging me to start a blog and post some of the things I have shared with them.  At first I set aside the suggestion with gratitude for the feedback, but over time I started to think it might be fun to do.

And as I thought about it more, I thought that if I did do a blog and if anything that I wrote and shared on that blog provided even a little inspiration, even a little something to think about, and most importantly, lifted someone up and left them feeling supported, doing that blog would be time well spent.

So here I am.  Starting Finding It All in a Simple Life.  Because I have.  And that will be the content of this blog.  Things I think about, experiences I have, places I have found inspiration and beauty.  I am passionate about spirituality.  Health and wellness.  Food and cooking and healthy eating.  Writing poems and small essays and smatterings of thoughts.  Taking pictures of images I want to capture.  And mindful moments I experience that are filled with beauty and wonder.

So thank you for checking out my blog, for gracing this experience with your curiosity and your presence.  All are welcomed here, and your comments and sharing will be valued.

I hope you have a beautiful day!

‘Foremost in the things I am grateful for are the people I love’ — I have learned to appreciate and prioritize the one thing that has lasts in and beyond life — the impact we have on those for whom we love, mentor, and care.
