From the book Loss by Donna Ashworth
I have been obsessed with this poem ever since I first read it. I go back to it all the time, reading it over and over, and it resonates so deeply with me every time.
I knew it was something that I want to express to my kids, something I really want them to integrate so they have that understanding when I die. But it seemed to me that the poem was much more than that.
So I just kept reading and re-reading it. And then I realized that it resonates so deeply with me because it captures what I believe about all of life. Life after our physical death, but also life right now.
All of life is interconnected. Everything is truly all One. We are so much more than our physical bodies, and that “more” is part of the whole of everything and everyone. The connection this poem is talking about is also the connection that is true of all life, all the time. Connection is not just what we can physically see. It is the truth of the nature of everything.
I read this poem and I am reminded that I am one with everything and everyone, and all of life is interconnected. What a beautiful awe-inspiring truth.
I hope you experience the truth of this connection with all life today!
