I believe that nothing is random. Nothing is outside the sphere of creation, the infinite power of a Creator. I believe that all things that happen, happen exactly as they are supposed to. I read something in a book once – I can’t remember the name of the book or I would give credit to the author – and it put this belief into a summary of thought that resonated with me.
“Leading theorists are coming to realize that the cosmological evolution of stars and planets, the biological evolution of organisms, and the cultural evolution of human history are all part of a universal process of becoming that has been continuously unfolding since the beginning of the universe with the Big Bang. The advance of evolution encompasses much more than the development of biological species. Indeed, evolution is not just something that is occurring within the universe; evolution itself is what the universe actually is – a grand panoply of micro and macro development that affects everything, and ultimately connects everything.”
Sometimes something happens to me or in the world around me, and my instinct is to define that something as “bad”, or at least “not good”. But I do believe everything is interconnected, and everything is evolving exactly as it needs to. I believe that all of the evolution of everything is moving toward an ultimate big picture that is outside my ability to comprehend, but I know it is good.
Nothing is outside the sphere of Creation, of the Universal Divine, however that is conceptualized. Given that belief, I see trust as integral. Trust that things are happening just as they need to happen, even if I am not able to see how that is right now. Trust that things are moving toward an ultimate good, even if there are hard things happening in that process. Trust that I am connected to all of that, and I have a part in the dance that is unfolding.
I see my part in the dance as the energy that I send out into the world around me. Is the energy I am am sending out an energy of love? Is it an energy of compassion and positive intention? Am I contributing in a loving and positive way to the world around me?
I think that as we watch things happen in the world, we have to remember that nothing is random. And that we are not able to fully understand how things are happening exactly as is needed, but everything is movement toward an ultimate big picture that is one of good. I think we have to center in trust.
I hope you are able to center in trust today.
