It’s evening now, and I was just thinking that I’d had a really good day today. Another simple day at home, it was one where I again enjoyed the freedom to do whatever I wanted. And it was a day filled with good things.
I started the day as I always do, reciting my morning gatha as I opened my bedroom blinds. It always centers me in gratitude and appreciation for the new day ahead when I do that. I begin the day in a good place before I even leave my bedroom in the morning.
The day outside was beautiful with blue sky, some fantastic clouds and mild temperatures, so I was able to enjoy a short walk outside. I did some reading, connected with a few people I love via FaceTime and text, and enjoyed good cuddles and playtime with Mika, my kitty.
I had a nice meditation time that filled me with peace. I enjoyed some wonderful soup I made yesterday and explored online some new recipes I might want to try. I organized a new embroidery project I’m going to start.
I didn’t do anything that was extremely productive. I just engaged in some simple activities. I moved through the day in a gentle flow, and practiced mindfulness that grounded me in the moments of the day. Throughout the whole day, I felt gratitude. If it was not in the forefront of my mind, I carried it as a warm light within me that was a foundation for everything else.
And I realized that it was those things that made it a good day. It was not about how productive I was or the specific things I accomplished. Instead, it was about how I did them. How I moved and lived through this day that I was blessed to have. No matter what I could have accomplished today, if I had not been grounded in mindfulness, gratitude and appreciation, I don’t think I would have had nearly as good of a day.

I hope you had a good day today!
