Forever Friends

I was thinking about forever friends today. The friends who are linked with me forever, connected at the soul level, sisters of my heart, if not by blood. I am blessed with a number of good friends in my life, but there are only a few that reach that elevated level of connection.

I have one friend who has been with me on my life journey for many years, a time that spans decades. We have shared our lives and our spiritual paths deeply with each other along the way. If I didn’t have her in my life, there would be an enormous hole that no one else could fill.

Another friend was a friend in my early 20’s, during the time of an extreme life experience on my path. We completely lost touch with each other for over 40 years, and then we reconnected. That connection has flourished beyond anything I could have imagined. We now have a deeply integrated place in each other’s life and heart that is something I share with only a few others, despite the fact that we live multiple states away from each other and have only had one face-to-face visit after reconnecting.

One friend of mine is a lifelong friend, someone whose family was friends with my family. Our mothers were pregnant with us at the same time, and our friendship began when we were babies. We have always had a very special connection, and we are in touch with each other daily, sharing our lives and the special memories we have of our families and growing up that few other people in our lives remember.

Another friend is someone I developed a relationship with during a shared work experience, but our connection has long transcended that of a work relationship. She is someone who is a mainstay in my life and a source of constant love and support. She understands me, accepts me, and loves me in a way few others do.

Forever friends. Some of the biggest blessings in my life. I am grateful for them more than I can express, and I hope I am able to give back to them even a fraction of all they have given me.
